Confusion Control
Fellow Pétanque Players,
There seems to be a bit of confusion regarding the tournament of select triples scheduled for this Sunday. There is NO tournament this weekend. The Inter-club tournament, to have been hosted by the Petaluma Valley Club, has been postponed and the select mixed triples has been moved to AUGUST 9. There is a flyer with more information which is forthcoming.
LPM apologises for any inconvenience this may have caused.

VOMPC's next tournament is the Sonoma Cup on Sunday May 24th, Memorial Day weekend.
Select triples, any combo of gals and guys, or all guys, or all gals.
Registration is by 9:30--NOT 10am. Cost is $45 per team.
It will be a busy day in our town, so be early for good parking.
No lunch, so bring your own food and best game for a fun day.
Once again... 9:30 registration deadline--it's a long day.

Sonoma Wine Country Games
Dear Pétanque Friends,
In one month Pétanque will be played for the very first time in the Wine Country Games. This program is sponsored by the Council on Aging which is the organization responsible for Meals on Wheels. This is the first time pétanque will be part of these games.
Some of the sponsors include Ricard and Wellington Vineyards! In addition to being awarded medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, there are some great prizes from our sponsors. After you register, you can enter any event for a nominal fee. Registration is $40 and the fee for pétanque is $5. There are some 20 sporting events from which to choose. The games are held over a ten day period, June 4th through the 14th. The only criteria is that you must be 50 years young or older! Saturday night there's a party with nibbles, wine and music for only $5 at Shoen Farms with all the athletes! With your registration you get a t-shirt, satchel and goodies.

3rd Annual Lamorinda Cup Breaking News...
Hello All,
Lafayette is holding their Art and Wine Festival this weekend so that means that Mount Diablo Boulevard will be closed between Dewing Avenue and Oak Hill Road. If you usually use Mt Diablo Blvd to to get to Moraga Road to get to our courts, rather take the Pleasant Hill exit. Here is a Google map.
In case you didn't know, Hwy 37, from Infineon Raceway to Vallejo is closed this weekend for roadworks, so if you are coming from Sonoma, use the route through American Canyon.
A reminder:
The entry fee is $40.00 per team and you can pay at registration
Tish Harris is collecting clothing for people affected by the huge fire around Bass Lake. This is not an appeal from Tish, but if you just happen to have any clothing that is just taking up space and you'd like to get rid of it, bring it along tomorrow.

Valley of the Moon Pétanque - Bastille Day Celebration
Valley of the Moon Pétanque Club's best-loved event is less than three weeks away- it's time to wave the Tricolor and sing the Marseillaise. We welcome back Chef Christine Piccin who's prepared an uber-awesome menu and the pitch-perfect "Due Zighi Baci" accordionist and vocalist.
The menu this year feature's a slow-roasted garlic-mustard rubbed Leg of Lamb accompanied by roasted Red Bell Peppers & Fennel, Summer Vegetable Tian, Fromage et Salade Verte and Apricot Tart w/caramel whipped cream (see attached flyer). Reservations are required for lunch ($20 per person). You may reserve online at www.vompc.org or leave word on the hotline at 707 343-9465.
For parties who wish to be guaranteed seating together, payment in advance is required. Please use the attached form and return it to the address listed no later than July 10th. This will insure that you sit together, but not necessarily an entire table (unless you are a party of 8 or more). We have family style seating and you may have to share. You are welcome to bring your own table and chairs.
We also ask that you bring your own plateware. The washing station will be available.
The mixed triples tournament is $5 per person. Registration ends at 10:00 am. The courts are reserved for tournament players only. If you wish to play casually, please contact the club prior to the tournament to make arrangements.
It should be another fabulous, festive celebration. We hope to see you there:))

Lamorinda Pétanque - 2014 Qualifiers
The Lamorinda Petanque Club will be hosting both the
2014 FPUSA Men's and Women's National Triples Championships
on August 2 and 3, 2014 on their terrain at 480 St Marys Road in Lafayette, California.
In addition to being National Championships, these are Qualification Tournaments:
The Men's Triples Championship will determine the Official U.S. National Team for the 2015 F.I.P.J.P. Men’s World Confederations Cup Tournament which will be held in New Caledonia in late 2015.
The Women's Triples Championship will determine the Official U.S. National Team for the 2015 F.I.P.J.P. Women’s World Championship. The venue will be announced when details become available.
On Sunday, August 3 there will be a consolante tournament, the FPUSA Federation Cup Select Triples Tournament in which any licensed FPUSA member may participate. More details about this are contained under the menu heading above .
Our terrain will be open on Friday, so you can come on down and familiarise yourself with the pistes. Registration and start times for both Saturday and Sunday are contained in the Tournament forms.
