WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL BLOG for La Pétanque Marinière in San Rafael, California. LPM has been an active Marin pétanque club since 1972 and affiliated with the Fédération of Pétanque USA, since 1975. We welcome people of all abilities, ages and nationalities to come and enjoy pétanque with us.
The Pierre Joske Courts are located on Civic Center drive in San Rafael. (click for directions). Casual games are played every Thursday, Saturday and Sunday from about 1 pm. Tournament play is usually held on the second Sunday of every month.

If you would like to play but haven't any boules, please contact our President, Christine Cragg. They can bring some for you to use, as well as introduce you to the basic skills and techniques of pétanque. In addition, if you are looking to purchase boules but are unsure as to which size and weight are right for you, we have a range of different examples from which to choose.

Portland: NW Region Triples and Singles
Next month, June 27th & 28th, Portland Pétanque Club will host the FPUSA NW regional triples and singles. Below are links to the registration forms, hotel accomodations and dinner reservations. Petanque Party at Michel-Schlumberger
If your idea idea of a great sport is one that requires you have a wine glass in one hand —then you'll fit right in where that’s the rule at Michel-Schlumberger Estate’s Petanque Party, which takes place Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m.
The fête features the new Pétanque Wines, which include sauvignon blanc, chardonnay, cabernet sauvignon and syrah; they will be sold at the winery only on this day.
In addition to standard outdoor pétanque, there will be an indoor version of the game and a bar-top version, too. If you are caught without a glass in your hand, you’ll be disqualified.
At 3 p.m., the First Annual Pétanque Wines Challenge will take place.
Admission to the party is $20 per person, which includes French music, beverages, baguette sandwiches and salads form Chloe’s in Santa Rosa and all the pétanque you can play.

Requirements for Competition
1. New members must be registered with the FPUSA by the closing date shown above.
2. Members who renewed their 2009 memberships after February 3, 2009 are ineligible to play.
3. Pre-registration with full payment for this tournament is required by the closing date shown above.
4. All players must have a current Release of Liability Waiver on file with the FPUSA before participating.
Waiver forms will be available on-site and must be completed and signed, if necessary, prior to player check-in.
5. Every participant must bring their FPUSA membership card and may be asked to produce it by tournament staff.
6. Appropriate attire and competition-grade boules are required for all players.
7. Closed-toe shoes are required except for players providing a valid medical reason.
